UFO Sightings Up in 2012

According to the Mutual UFO Network UFO sightings have skyrocketed in 2012. During the first week all over the world it seems there are reports of strange objects or lights in the sky. The Colorado based Mutual UFO Network has received reports from 36 out of 50 states during the first week of 2012. During January 2011 Mutual UFO Network received 500 reports in 2012 during the first week of Jan. they received 233.

To me this Japanese video doesn’t look like a UFO, but rather some type of light weight material floating in the sky. I think it’s a big stretch to say it’s a UFO. Very cool video none the less…

Movie Audience Down to Post-Sep. 11th Levels

Fewer people, according to the Associated Press, during the last 2 weekends went to the movies than in the post-Sep. 11^th downturn.

Movie revenue in the US was $77 million over the weekend. The movie “New Year’s Eve” debuted this weekend #1 with $13.7 million. $13.7 million meant it was the worst weekend in 3 years since Labor Day 2008. Compared with last year at this time, ticket revenue was down a whopping 17.2%.

Hollywood.com analyst Paul Dergarabedian says he can’t believe how bad it is out there.  Only 19.8 million people went to the movies over the last tw0 weekends. These 2 weekends mark the worst time since Sep. 11^th where only 22.3 million people went to the movies. Overall box-office revenue is down 3.87% in 2011, while attendance is off by 4.71% from last year.

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Hollywood.com. Where available, latest international numbers are also included. Final domestic figures will be released Monday.

Gypsum Deposit Confirms Mars Had Water

Opportunity has been roving around Mars now for 8 years. In the latest scientific data sent back to NASA Opportunity sent back some surprising information. NASA announced to the American Geophysical Union that it has found a form of calcium sulfate near the rim of the 96 mile wide Endeavour Crater. The calcium sulfate contained a significant amount of water according to the analysis. The vein of gypsum was found in an ancient rock, not blowing around on the surface. Gypsum is formed when calcium-containing water comes in contact with sulfates. Gypsum – commonly known as plaster of Paris – typically forms from water flowing through rock.

“This is the single most bulletproof observation that I can think of that we’ve made this entire mission,” said Cornell University planetary scientist Steve Squyres, lead researcher for NASA’s Spirit and Opportunity Mars rovers (Reuters).

It is almost a scientific fact now that water was flowing through the surface of Mars sometime in its past.

“Cloaked” Planet Sized Object Discovered Near Mercury

I had to share this with my readers. A planet sized object was discovered near Mercury with a camera onboard NASA’s STEREO spacecraft. Electrically charged particles are shooting out from the sun and hitting this gigantic object next to mercury. The video is in infrared. “It’s cylindrical on either side and has a shape in the middle. It definitely looks like a ship to me, and very obviously, it’s cloaked,”  YouTube-user siniXster said in his video commentary on the footage. He goes on to say that it is obviously cloaked.  Head group scientist Russ Howard of the United States Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) said  the mysterious object is in fact Mercury itself. It’s Mercury’s wake, “where the planet was on the previous day.” Many UFO enthusiasts won’t like this explanation, but it’s a cool video. Who knew planets leave visible wake?

Stocks Plunge 634 Points 6th Worst Dow Day On Record

The Dow plunged 634 points today making this the 6th worst day on record. Here are the 10 worst days on record.

Moral of the story… for the past 20 years investing in the stock market has been one of the worst ideas ever almost as bad as investing in real estate. The gold nuts were right. If you invested in gold over the same period you would have been better off. Seems like in real estate, stocks, and most likely gold market timing is everything. Buy and hold strategy has been proven wrong.

Aston Martin Shell with Toyota Guts – Would You Buy This 50K Car?

The label says Aston Martin Cygnets, but inside the Aston Martin Cygnet it’s a Toyota iQ. In Europe Aston Martin was forced to drop its fleet average tailpipe emissions of carbin by 25% by 2013. This is something Aston Martin couldn’t of done with their current lineup so they looked to Toyota to develop their version of an ultra compact. The question is would you pay $50,000 for a 1.3 liter, 98-hp, 92-lb-ft 14; FWD, 0-60 in 11.5 sec, and a fuel economy of 50 mpg? The $50,000 does buy you quilted leather seats, hide and Alcantara dashboard accents, plush carpet, and of course the AM name badge. I say I most definitely wouldn’t consider buying this car in a millions years, but AM already has 400 out of 1500 of the 2013 Aston Martin Cygnets spoken for.To me buying this car would be the equivalent of going to a 4 star restaurant and ordering a veggie burger. Where’s the fun? What’s the point?
