Biggest Takeaway From Make Money Online: Roadmap of a Dot Com Mogul Review

If you haven’t heard already one of the online world’s most prolific bloggers just released a new book. The book is titled, ‘Make Money Online: Roadmap of a Dot Com Mogul’ by John Chow and Michael Kwan (Contributor). One of the biggest takeaways from the book was a little coding knowledge. The coding was how to create a Favicon which is actually a very easy process. First download the .ico plugin http://www.mediacollege.com/adobe/photoshop/plugins/ico/. Once you download this file open Photoshop and create a 64×64 pixel file. Design your Favicon. Then shrink image down to 16×16 pixels and save the file as .ico. Open your FTP program and upload file to your web site root directory. Next, insert this code into your web site:

<link rel=”Shortcut Icon” href=”http://www.yourwebsite.com”>
<link rel=”Icon” href=”http://www.yourwebsite.com/favicon.ico”>

That’s it! You will now have your very own Favicon. If you don’t already know what a Favicon is it’s that little picture in your browser next to the address bar.

Most of the information is pretty standard. Start a WordPress blog, get your own domain name, have quality content, monetize the content, don’t rely on Google, etc. After reading John Chow’s book and many other “Make Money Online” type books I’m beginning to think success is less about the formula and more about the individual. Everyone wants this complicated money making formula, but the more I read the more I realize these are just regular people who happen to have a lot of talent and a little bit of luck. Unless John Chow isn’t telling the whole truth success for him seems pretty straight forward. It boils down to he’s an interesting, personable guy, people like reading about what he’s up to. Once Chow got the traffic he optimized blog for maximum revenue.That’s it… that’s how he made all his money.

Like many successful bloggers their business goes from blogging to being an “Expert.” They then create products teaching newbies how to become “Experts” like them. This becomes their new business model. John Chow has now crossed into the “Expert” stage of the business. I get a little annoyed about everyone that gained a tiny bit of success in the online world becoming an expert, it’s nice to see these people sharing their knowledge. It’s one thing to create a ClickBank product and another thing to create a paperback book. I think Chow with ‘Make Money Online: Roadmap of a Dot Com Mogul’ took the higher road. I definitely recommend this book.

Patrick Sung Universal Packaging System

Whenever I ship something on eBay I ask myself why something so small has to ship in such a large box? A large box that takes up space and ultimately leads to higher shipping prices for all. Designer Patrick Sung  has come up with a solution to this packaging issue. They have designed a box called the Universal Packaging System or UPS. The UPS packaging is made out of corrugated cardboard that folds around the object you are trying to ship.
