This blog is all about saving money so I want to let you in on one of the hottest new ways to save money… build your home out of shipping containers. Yes, you know those large metal containers, the one Batman in ‘The Dark Night’ used to get down to the temporary Bat Cave. Now only in LA they are starting to use these steel containers to build homes that are really, really nice… I guess. Only if you like living in steel metal containers once used to transport Chinese imports. The shipping container homes cost per square foot “$150 to $200 (I was thinking they would cost $0.00 per square foot), compared with about $220 to $250 for much of the traditional building in the area (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/laland/2008/08/container-homes.html).” What will LA “architects” think of next?
