Macbook Pro Rumors Run Wild

Every year Apple announces a new batch of products set to hit store shelves in the coming months, and this year will be no exception. The next batch of Macbook Pro’s is going to be announced in the not-too-distant future, but for now all we have are juicy rumors about the upcoming crop of Apple laptops.

For years now, Macbooks have had a full complement of USB ports, and firewire ports, but the next batch might have something new thrown in the mix. Light Peak outperforms both USB and Firewire, and might just wind up in the next set of Macbooks. There aren’t a lot of devices that use the new technology yet, but you can bet that if this rumor turns out to be true, that will change.

A variety of rumors have also sprung up about when consumers can expect the new Macrooks to hit store shelves. One rumor suggests that we could see them as early as this Thursday, which as it turns out, is Steve Jobs’ birthday. Another rumor suggests the new laptops won’t hit store shelves until at least March. Either way, retailers have begun adding new SKU’s for new Macbooks to their inventory systems. It’s also rumored that some retailers either have begun, or will soon begin to receive mysterious sealed shipments from Apple with explicit instructions that the shipments not be opened yet.

No matter when the new Macbooks hit, and what features they’re packing, it’s a safe bet that they’ll include more powerful hardware than last year’s model, and they’ll probably also pack a higher price tag. If the rumors turn out to be true, we’ll have more information on the new Macbooks in the coming weeks.
