I think it’s safe to say that other than your parents and friends teachers are the most important influence on a young persons life. That’s why it’s so important that we as a society not take good education for granted. Good education is not a guarantee. There’s a Arizona based organization helping to ensure that called Keeping Teachers Teaching Foundation who’s mission is to “Provide for our teachers so they keep providing for our future.”

Keeping Teachers Teaching, Inc. (KTT) is a one-of-a-kind nonprofit organization devoted to the needs of teachers. They reality is some school districts are very well funded, but others are not. KTT targets those communities with reduced budgets and supports those teachers in need. For those that think teachers make enough money already and schools get enough of our tax money as it is I say this simply isn’t the case in all areas. I had a college professor here in Washington State once say that said the issue isn’t enough money, at least for my University. It’s about money being spent on the bureaucracy of running the school, a tiny percentage goes to the actual teachers. He went on to say that teachers would be very well off if teachers earned the bulk of money coming into the University. I think my old professor and the goals of KTT are in-line. The goal ultimately is to prioritize teachers, make them first.

Mission

“KTT provides support and much needed resources for required professional development trainings, networking opportunities, community involvement, scholarships for continuing education, certifications, health and wellness programs, and a variety of free or discounted local services. Our long-term goals are to inspire educators on a state and national level. The assurance of a quality education can only be provided to our children by educators who can give their best to an increasingly demanding profession.”

Special Programs?

KTT offers several fundraising programs. These include the Just 10 AZ Challege where residents of Arizona are encourages to donate $10. 2nd program is called Strive-To-Thrive Total Wellness For Teachers which “incorporates proven, evidence-based activities that are designed to enhance academic learning and student outcomes during a Teacher’s typical work day. The program components are based on a comprehensive model of wellness to include physical, psychological and environmental well-being.” The third program is called Discounts For Teachers in which teachers receive discounts on a as needed basis.
