Imagine a post-apocalyptic world where rival nations wage war to compete for global dominance. What if I were to tell you this post-apocalyptic story would be told in a set of graphic novels that will be released on Indiegogo? If that doesn’t excite you I don’t know what will. The graphic novel being launched on Indiegogo is called MAVRICS: Origins Vol 1. by Aaron Neff (Writer/Creator), Garrett Gabbey (Artist), Eric Weathers (Letterer), and James Thomas (Editor). In this sci-fi epic, elite pilots in robotic combat suits wage war on the battlefield of tomorrow. I’m intrigued.

As a kid I used to collect comic books. My favorite comic book was X-Men, especially the character Wolverine. This was before the popular X-Men movies, mind you, but we still had the X-Men cartoon. Graphic Novels are similar to comic books, but differ in that they tell a story in one single book. Graphic Novels can be fiction, non-fiction, history, fantasy, or anything in-between. Then there’s the art work/images of the MAVRICS: Origins Vol 1 which is much higher quality than the comic books of my past.

The goal of this Indiegogo Graphic Novel is $500. I’m happy to report they have crushed that goal to the tune of +2207%. The MAVERICS Graphic Novel has raised $11,035 and has 156 backers. The author still needs your help, however. Consider supporting Global Frequency Studios on Indiegogo today. Not only will you help get this graphic novel off the ground you will get your own copy for just $20. It’s a no brainer.

Future Girl Comic Book On Patreon

The story of Future Girl is one of the more interesting campaigns I’ve come across on Patreon. The origin of the Future Girl Comic Book all started with a single photograph. The single photo was taken by photographer Stephen Laico at the Women’s March in Washington, DC, on January 21, 2017. For those of you who haven’t seen the photo it is of a girl holding a sign that reads, “The Future Is Watching.” She is a super hero for taking a stand in something she believes in. Ross Dannenberg, written by Jenn Arledge, our principal artist is Miranda Davila, coloring by Tanya Bobrowski, and lettering by Nikki Sherman took this theme and ran with it. The girl holding the sign, someone society could look up to was reimagined into superhero. Future Girl needs your support on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FutureGirl

You’ve probably heard it before. The world needs more role models and for the most part I think there are plenty of positive role models to choose from. Things change when you ask how many role models are there for children, especially girls? The answer is probably not many. There are even fewer positive role models for girls in the arena of comic books. That’s why supporting this Patreon campaign is so important, especially if you agree with what I just said.

The Plot

After a fateful encounter one distant Halloween night, Future Girl discovers there’s more to being a hero than a flashy costume or billowy cape. Aided by her faithful sidekick – the ever anxious Steadfast – and guided by The Horologist – an ancient and mysterious clock maker – Future Girl stops evil in its tracks no matter where or when it may strike. She is a warrior for truth, a beacon for justice, and defender of the human spirit.
