Imagine a post-apocalyptic world where rival nations wage war to compete for global dominance. What if I were to tell you this post-apocalyptic story would be told in a set of graphic novels that will be released on Indiegogo? If that doesn’t excite you I don’t know what will. The graphic novel being launched on Indiegogo is called MAVRICS: Origins Vol 1. by Aaron Neff (Writer/Creator), Garrett Gabbey (Artist), Eric Weathers (Letterer), and James Thomas (Editor). In this sci-fi epic, elite pilots in robotic combat suits wage war on the battlefield of tomorrow. I’m intrigued.

As a kid I used to collect comic books. My favorite comic book was X-Men, especially the character Wolverine. This was before the popular X-Men movies, mind you, but we still had the X-Men cartoon. Graphic Novels are similar to comic books, but differ in that they tell a story in one single book. Graphic Novels can be fiction, non-fiction, history, fantasy, or anything in-between. Then there’s the art work/images of the MAVRICS: Origins Vol 1 which is much higher quality than the comic books of my past.

The goal of this Indiegogo Graphic Novel is $500. I’m happy to report they have crushed that goal to the tune of +2207%. The MAVERICS Graphic Novel has raised $11,035 and has 156 backers. The author still needs your help, however. Consider supporting Global Frequency Studios on Indiegogo today. Not only will you help get this graphic novel off the ground you will get your own copy for just $20. It’s a no brainer.

In the skeletal remains of a war-torn Ulaanbaatar, a squad of six brace pilots sent on a seemingly mundane missions to rescue refugees encounter more than they bargained for. Unless you live under a rock you know that comic books and specifically comic book themed movies are huge right now. I just looked up the stats for ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and it has already grossed $1,606,829,103 worldwide! That’s insane! Lets get back to the source material though, actual comic books. That’s what Tom Hoover of Hyper Epics on Patreon is creating. 100% original, exciting, action packed, better throwback comic book short stories.

Please check out Tom Hoover’s page on Patreon and give your support if you can:

Hyper Epics Comic Books

Consider supporting his page or if you can’t afford a monthly donation share his link on social media. Anything helps! I think the rule of thumb should be, if you like someone’s art, do everything you can to support it. Doing what you love still requires making and living and paying the bills.

What Makes Them Unique?

What makes the “Hyper Epics” comic book series unique is that it’s a throw back to the way comic books used to be. All comics are a mere 3 pages long. All comics are free on their web site: http://www.hyperepics.com. Think of your monthly Patreon donation as a very modest subscription fee. This will help them tell bigger stories, feature industry artists, and hopefully finance print installments, may be even animated Hyper Epics short films. Fingers crossed!

Are There Any Rewards?

Yes, there are several intriguing awards for this comic book themed Patreon. $2 per month gets you a big thank you and your name in the web site credits. $5 gets you all previous plus high resolution digital copies of the stories they publish that month. $10 per month (Top level) gets you all previous plus story credits, sneak previews, and member only benefits. CashSherpa recommended the $10/month level.

Conclusion

At the end of the day, Tom and his team are completely independent without corporate sponsorship. They are telling stories from the heart, and funding all costs out of pocket. For these reasons it is nearly impossible to compete with the giants of the industry with the resources they have at hand, but they have come out swinging and telling stories that they will not. Personal I can’t stand most Marvel movies, so if you’re like me support independent comic book story tellers like Tom and donate today.
