Google Books “Ngram Viewer” Word Usage Trends 1500 – Present

Google today released a new tool called Ngram Viewer. It’s similar to Google Trends, but instead of searching the web it searches Google’s collection of books. For example type in “Bill Gates” and not surprisingly usage in literature started spiking in the 1990s peaking in 2003. The Google dataset holds 500 billion words and phrases from 5.2 million books in English and five other languages. Check out the new tool from Google http://ngrams.googlelabs.com/
